Homemade Orange Christmas Garland

It seems like everyone has decided to start celebrating Christmas early this year and I am all about it! One of my favorite movies to watch during this time is Little Women and as I was watching I noticed all of their cute homemade Christmas decor. This orange garland is in all of the Christmas garlands in the movie and I felt like it was the perfect thing to make leading up to this holiday season.

Ingredients

*Makes two 5 to 6 foot garlands

*Total baking time is 4 hours

  • 6-8 Oranges

  • 12 feet of natural jute twine

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°F.

  2. Slice oranges 1/4 inch thick and dry with paper towels.

  3. Place the oranges directly on your oven racks and bake for 2 hours.

  4. After 2 hours, flip the oranges and bake for another 2 hours.

  5. Remove from the oven and let cool completely on drying racks, careful to not overlap the oranges so they can cool and dry out at the same time.

  6. Cut your twine to size (5 or 6 feet depending on your need)

  7. Make a small hole under the peel and string your oranges so they are about 6-8 inches apart. Make sure your oranges are completely cool before stringing them on the twine.

  8. Place your orange garland on top of a fresh green garland and secure under the branches so you can’t see the twine ties.
